SUMMARY:Don’t be so Shocked!
DESCRIPTION:With Haider Merchant, University of Exeter\nRegister here!\n \nShock is a phenomenon which is often poorly understood by medical students and briefly taught within medical school curricula. In this session I will share with you what I have learned from my time in ICU in order to bridge this gap in knowledge. This will also involve reviewing important physiology, which often appears in medical school exams, before applying it towards clinical scenarios. We will also run through the assessment and management of common acute cases. This high-yield session is certainly not one to miss.\n \nAim: to provide an overview of the basic principles underpinning Shock and run through clinical scenarios\nIntended Learning Outcomes:\n– To understand the definition of Shock\n– To describe the pathophysiology of Shock\n– To recall the different types of Shock and their common causes\n– To apply this knowledge in clinical contexts\n\n\n
