Join Edward for an exciting session on ECGs!
First off, I will discuss the different aspects of an ECG and where everything is, e.g. the speed at which it was taken (normal 25mm/sec).
I will then discuss some of the more simple areas such as calculating rate. Then, we will move onto some pathologies such as ST elevation and depression, or recognising J waves (aka Osborn wave) or delta waves, and arrhythmias such as heart block and those associated with atria and ventricles (e.g. AF and VF).
There will be examples of ECGs shown at the end requiring interpretation and identification of the associated condition.
By the end of this session, you will:
Be able to interpret common conditions on an ECG, e.g. acute coronary syndrome and arrhythmias
Be able to correctly present an ECG, e.g. interpret rate and rhythm, etc
Understand the physiology behind some of the presentations, e.g. cardiac axis, why leads are placed in certain areas and what they mean
